| Data transferred |
|
This is the total amount of data received (downloaded) AND sent (uploaded) by your computer over your broadband connection. The allowance is not just on downloads because customers in both directions transfer almost the same amount of data. Everything you do over your broadband connection will count towards the limit i.e. surfing, e-mails, downloading and uploading music, gaming, listening to Internet radio etc.

| Dial tone |
|
The dial tone is the small buzzing sound that you hear when you pick up the receiver. It's used to indicate that the exchange is working and the line's available for dialling.

| Direct Debit |
|
Direct Debit offers a simple, convenient and secure payment way to pay your bill direct from your bank. We offer both a Whole Bill Direct Debit scheme and a Monthly Payment Plan, both of which use Direct Debit instruction as a method of payment. | 118 500 Directory Enquiries |

This service enables you to find private and business numbers by name, street, town and/or postcode on BT.com. When you've signed up and logged in, then you can make as many searches as you like free. You can also find a number by calling 118 500 from your mobile or fixed line. Calls are charged at 24p per minute a service connection charge of 49p if you want to be connected straight away from your BT fixed line.
