Problem with your telephone service?
There can be several reasons why you are experiencing a problem with your phone line. It's not necessarily always a fault with the telephone network.

Below are a series of checks you can do to make sure your own equipment or wiring isn't causing the problem.

It's well worth the few minutes it will take to carry out these simple checks. If you report a problem, it could be a network fault, or it might be down to a problem with your own equipment or wiring. BT are only responsible for your line from the local telephone exchange to your main socket. So if you request an engineer visit and it turns out the problem is with your own equipment or wiring, then there will be a charge.
