Problem with your telephone service?
There can be several reasons why you are experiencing a problem with your phone line. It's not necessarily always a fault with the telephone network.

Below are a series of checks you can do to make sure your own equipment or wiring isn't causing the problem.

If you carry out these checks thoroughly it could mean that you solve the problem yourself - saving your time and reducing frustration. It also means that an engineer doesn't have to come to your home unnecessarily - avoiding you having to wait for a visit and, if the cause of the problem is your own equipment or wiring, charges for a engineer's visit.
This will typically cost between £116.33 to £163.33 inc. VAT for a one-off visit charge and £99.88 to £258.50 (hour/part hour) inc. VAT labour charge depending on time of day, the lowest charges are for work in normal working hours. This charge applies if the fault is found to be caused by your equipment or wiring, or if you have damaged BT's wiring yourself.
