Online games FAQs
What is online console gaming?
Xbox owners can now add a whole new dimension to their gaming by going online and playing friends remotely over the Internet. They can also talk to each other while playing using a special headset. The service, called Xbox
Live, requires a broadband connection.
What extra equipment does an Xbox owner need to play online games?
- Xbox Live starter kit
- Xbox Live game (e.g. FIFA 06)
- Broadband connection (e.g. BT Broadband)
- Compatible broadband modem/router (e.g. Voyager 205) with a spare ethernet port or wireless networking
The first two items are available from your games store, the latter two from BT as a convenient package.
How can BT help online console gamers?
BT Broadband has been specifically designed for console gamers: it conveniently packages a broadband connection with a combined broadband modem/router. The latter enables a broadband line to be connected easily, quickly and permanently to a PC and a games console, so you can effectively 'multi-task' on broadband ie. surf on the PC, play online games on the console, and talk on the phone, all simultaneously and without unplugging cables.
